…because I’ve been rubbish at updating everyone!
After a bit of a summer break I’ve realised that lots of amazing things have happened since the launch of My Family is So Scottish that I’ve been putting off a newsletter as it has felt like too much. Here’s my attempt at updating you on the past 2 months in the most efficient time:
1. I sold over 400 books in a month!
Thanks to the successful Kickstarter and you wonderful people for sharing how much you love the book, there are now hundreds of people enjoying “My Family Is So Scottish” around the world. This brings me so much joy!
Word of mouth and REVIEWS make a big difference so please leave a quick review on Waterstones, Goodreads or though the link you were sent if you purchased through my website. (click on the links)
Here are some lovely reviews:
“Finally inclusion and diversity reflected in an accessible childrens book”
“The illustrations in this book are second to none - bright, colourful and fun with lots of little hidden nods to the Scottish culture too.”
2. I did a mini-tour in Scotland
Not only did I get to read my book in the biggest bookstore in Scotland (Waterstones Sauchiehall) but I also got to meet illustrator of the book, Karen MacAllister in person!
I also hosted a wonderful library session at Stockbridge Library in Edinburgh and got to visit so many of the amazing independent bookshops.
3. I saw my advert in person!
Whilst in Scotland I also took a trip on the Glasgow Subway with Councillor Stephen Dornan where we had a few photos with my advert! It was a very proud moment to see our book on such a big poster across the whole Subway network.
Did you Know...? “My Family is So Scottish” is the official commemorative book for the 125th Anniversary of the Glasgow Subway!
4. New Badges have been added to my website
If you still haven’t got your hands on a copy of my book, why not add a limited edition Ginger Uncle pin badge. I only have 30 of these so get them quick before they sell out!
5. I kind of went viral
I made a wee video of a pool picture that I take with my sons every year and put it on TikTok. So far over half a million people have seen it and it is making lots of people cry!
See what the fuss is about here
… and finally
A shout out to customer of the month, Sam Stewart who after ordering one book and loved it, he ordered four more copies! Sam I have sent you something extra special to say thank you!
Don’t forget to review my books if you liked them - it really does make a difference
I promise to update you more frequently in the future! Thanks again for your amazing support. Kirstin
